125g jumbo rolled oats a large pinch of salt, or to taste 250 ml cold water
Place the oats and salt in a heatproof bowl that fits inside your slowcooker. Pour the cold water over the top, but do not stir.
Place the bowl in the slow cooker dish and carefully pour in enough cold water around the outside to comeabout one third of the way up the sides of the bowl. Cover with lid and cook on low for 9-10 hours. Stir well and season with more salt to taste. Serve with milk or cream, sugar or golden syrup.
WHAT ABOUT...... a rich and hearty porridge. Use a blend of milk and water instead of just water.
